Scholes Wesleyan Reform Church, Cleckheaton

Established c.1850 by Wesleyan Reformers who seceded from Scholes Wesleyan Methodist Church, nr Cleckheaton

Wesleyan chapel in Scholes Lane (see above) retained by the Wesleyan Reformers

New chapel built next door to old one 1879; old chapel then used as Sunday School

Congregation were unable to pay off debt on chapel and negotiated to reunite with local Wesleyan circuit 1880s; negotiations failed when premises were found to be affected by mining subsidence and had to be closed

Congregation then held services in Scholes Temperance Hall for a time

Crossland Colliery Company bought the chapel and Sunday School from the original trustees and sold them to one of the Reform trustees 1888

Chapel repaired 1888

Closed 1967

Chapel demolished 1970
