Scholes Wesleyan Methodist Church, nr Cleckheaton
The following source list was originally available only on paper in one of the West Yorkshire Archive Service offices. It may have been compiled many years ago and could be out of date. It was designed to act as a signpost to records of interest on a particular historical subject, but may relate only to one West Yorkshire district, or be an incomplete list of sources available.
Chapel built in Webster Lane (later known as Scholes Lane) 1824.
Most of the congregation became Wesleyan Reformers c.1850; those who remained Wesleyans had to leave the chapel which became Scholes Wesleyan Reform Church, Cleckheaton.
Wesleyans continued to meet 1850s-1880s; in 1880s were using premises in Prospect Mills.
Negotiations for Wesleyans and Wesleyan Reformers (by then part of the United Methodist Free Churches) to reunite came to nothing 1880s.
Wesleyans then moved to Hartshead Moor 1889-90.
