Wiggin Lane Wesleyan Methodist Church, Sheepridge

The following source list was originally available only on paper in one of the West Yorkshire Archive Service offices. It may have been compiled many years ago and could be out of date. It was designed to act as a signpost to records of interest on a particular historical subject, but may relate only to one West Yorkshire district, or be an incomplete list of sources available.

Society established 1822.

Sunday School established 1823.

Chapel built in Wiggan Lane 1824.

Chapel rebuilt 1857; Sunday School accomodation was in basement.

New Sunday School built next to chapel 1908-9.

Chapel damaged by fire 1980s; congregation then used one of chapel meeting rooms for services.

New chapel and community centre planned 1988 but nothing came of this.

Congregation using Scout Hut for services 1991.

Closed 1992.

N.B. Brackenhall United Reformed Church was a united Methodist and United Reformed church from mid 1980s to early 1990s - it is uncertain if this arrangement had any connection with Wiggan Lane Methodist Church.
