Westgate Wesleyan Reform Church

Later Westgate United Methodist Free Church.

Established by Wesleyan Reformers who seceded from Parkside Wesleyan Methodist Church in 1850. The congregation used Heckmondwike Town School at the Green for worship, 1850 - 1852, the chapel at the corner of Westgate and Union Street was built in 1851 and opened in 1852. The Sunday School was established in 1852. The chapel was demolished and a new chapel was built on the same site between 1883 - 1884 and closed in 1980. Most of the congregation joined Littletown St Andrew's Methodist Church. The last chapel was demolished c1981.
