West View Wesleyan Reform Church
The following source list was originally available only on paper in one of the West Yorkshire Archive Service offices. It may have been compiled many years ago and could be out of date. It was designed to act as a signpost to records of interest on a particular historical subject, but may relate only to one West Yorkshire district, or be an incomplete list of sources available.
Established by Wesleyan Reformers who seceded from West Lane Wesleyan Methodist Church, c1850 - 1851, the congregation used James Taylor's house at Latham Hall for services, c1850 - 1852. A chapel was built in Reform Street in 1852 and was later demolished and rebuilt on the same site between 1888 - 1889. It closed in 1970 and most of the congregation joined Gomersal Trinity Methodist Church. The chapel building was later used as a business premises and was then destroyed by fire.
Records relating to this church may be found at WYAS Kirklees, collection reference: KC273.
