West Riding and Wakefield District Schools

The following is a list of school records held by WYAS: Wakefield which relate to Wakefield District and the former county of the West Riding. These collections are from a number of sources including the West Riding County Council Education Department, Wakefield Metropolitan District Council, Wakefield Diocese Church of England parishes and some private depositors.

C of E schools can be indentified by a collection reference which starts with 'WDP' (in some instances church schools were later taken over by the local authority and so may have a separate collection reference such as 'WMD'). West Riding County Council schools can be identified by the reference 'WRD', and Wakefield Metropolitan District Schools by the reference 'WMD'. Private schools and collections are usually signified by the letter 'C'.

Please note: as school records can contain private and personal information some records are subject to access conditions. Log-books and admisssion registers are closed to the public for 30 years; punishement books are closed for 75 years.

Schools A-C, Schools D-F, Schools G-I, Schools J-M, Schools N-Q, Schools R-U, Schools V-Z.
