Wellhouse Methodist New Connexion Church, Golcar
Established c1816 probably using a house at Westwood Edge; a small building at Westwood was used later. A chapel was built at the foot of Upper Wellhouse Lane c1842-1843 and opened c1843-1844. A Sunday School was established in a room under the chapel in 1845 and the chapel was subsequently enlarged in 1861. A Sunday School was built at the corner of Wellhouse Road and Low Westwood Lane in 1881 and also used as a day school from 1882. The Sunday School was damaged by fire and restored in 1920. In 1966 the chapel was demolished and the Sunday School converted for use as a chapel and school 1967-1968, opening in 1968. It closed in 1994-1995. The building is still used as Wellhouse Junior and Infants School.
