Upper Whitley School, Kirkburton

The following source list was originally available only on paper in one of the West Yorkshire Archive Service offices. It may have been compiled many years ago and could be out of date. It was designed to act as a signpost to records of interest on a particular historical subject, but may relate only to one West Yorkshire district, or be an incomplete list of sources available.

Built as the Board School, Liley Lane, Grange Moor, the school was established by 1877 - 1879 by Whitley Upper School Board using the Primitive Methodist Sunday School in Briestfield Road. The school in Liley Lane was built in the period 1894 - 1901 and was later called Upper Whitley County Primary School, its last known name was Upper Whitley Junior and Infants School. The earliest recorded log book for this school is dated November 1879.
