Parkside Weslayan Methodist Church, Heckmondwike
The following source list was originally available only on paper in one of the West Yorkshire Archive Service offices. It may have been compiled many years ago and could be out of date. It was designed to act as a signpost to records of interest on a particular historical subject, but may relate only to one West Yorkshire district, or be an incomplete list of sources available.
Also known as Greenside Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Services were originally held in a house in Walkeley Lane in the 1700's. A Sunday School was established by J Wilkinson, c1800, using his house near Puddledock Mill. A chapel was built at the green between 1810 - 1811 and opened in 1811 - 1812. Impetus for building the chapel was revival work of the Rev William Bramwell in Spen Valley and was known as Greenside chapel, it was demolished in 1864. A new chapel was built on the same site between 1865 - 1866 and became known as Parkside chapel, it closed in 1959 and was later demolished.
