Outlane Bethel New Connexion Church
The following source list was originally available only on paper in one of the West Yorkshire Archive Service offices. It may have been compiled many years ago and could be out of date. It was designed to act as a signpost to records of interest on a particular historical subject, but may relate only to one West Yorkshire district, or be an incomplete list of sources available.
Also known locally as Outlane Lower Methodist Church.
Established early 1800s, using John Ainley’s house for meetings.
Later used James Cockshaw’s house in New Row.
Chapel built on north side of New Hey Road near junction with Mulehouse Lane 1832.
Sunday School established 1832.
Chapel enlarged 1870.
Chapel rebuilt on same site 1892.
Closed 1964; congregation officially joined Outlane Trinity Methodist Church, but some members went to Mount Methodist Church .
Chapel demolished by 1977.
