New Mill County Infants School, Holmfirth
The following source list was originally available only on paper in one of the West Yorkshire Archive Service offices. It may have been compiled many years ago and could be out of date. It was designed to act as a signpost to records of interest on a particular historical subject, but may relate only to one West Yorkshire district, or be an incomplete list of sources available.
Built as Town School at the corner of Sude Hill and Penistone Road in c1693, the school was rebuilt in 1838 and was used as an infants only from that date. It became called New Mill Undenominational Infants School in the later 1800's and was renamed New Mill Council School from c1904. New Mill County Infants School closed c1968 - 1969 when Kirkroyds School opened in Wooldale. The earliest recorded log book for the school is dated January 1876.
Records for the school are held at WYAS Kirklees.
