WYAS Kirklees

Notes on Huddersfield Synagogue:

The Synagogue was Ashkenazi Orthodox.

Founded c1910. Based at Northumberland Street until 1930s and later at 11 Albion Street until 1940s. It closed prior to 1935 but re-opened during World War Two. The synagogue was affiliated with Leeds United Hebrew Congregation which is still in existence in 2008.

Records of the Board of Deputies of British Jews held at London Metropolitan Archives includes the correspondence and a list of members of the Huddersfield Hebrew Congregation 1952-1961.
