Help:Images

  • Before uploading any image, check that it is either out of copyright or WYAS has obtained permission to use it.
  • Click on 'Upload file' in the toolbox on the left hand side of the page
  • Click on the browse button. Navigate to wherever your image is saved on the fileplan.
  • Give the image a filename to be used on the wiki.
  • Click the upload button.

How do I link to an image on the wiki?

  • To link to an image on the wiki use the syntax:
[[Image:File.jpg|Text]
  • This will link to the image with a text caption which appears when the user hovers the mouse over the image. For example:
[[Image:Button_bold.png|Bold text]]

will look like Bold text

  • It is good practice to give each image a text caption.

My image is too large. How do I link to a thumbnail of the image?

  • To link to a thumbnail of the image use the syntax:
[[Image:File.jpg|thumb|Text]]

How do I right align an image?

  • To right align an image use the syntax:
[[Image:File.jpg|frame|right|Text]]

How do I know which images have already been uploaded onto the wiki?

  • To see a complete list of the the images already uploaded on the wiki, click on 'Upload file' in the toolbox on the left hand side of the page. Then click the 'list of uploaded files' link.
