Hanging Heaton Community Association
The following source list was originally available only on paper in one of the West Yorkshire Archive Service offices. It may have been compiled many years ago and could be out of date. It was designed to act as a signpost to records of interest on a particular historical subject, but may relate only to one West Yorkshire district, or be an incomplete list of sources available.
Hanging Heaton Community Association was formed in Oct 1975. It leased a building in Mill Lane from Kirklees MBC in 1977 for use as a community centre. Around £41,000 was spent on extending the Centre in 1978. By 1985 the Association was in difficulties with the Centre continuing to be under-used and the Association was having difficulty in paying its rates bills. The Kirklees Leisure Services Community Development Officer suggested in 1985 that the Centre should close. In 1986 the Centre closed and the Association wound up c1987.
These records are held by WYAS Kirklees, collection reference KC595
