Fielden Hospital, Todmorden

Fielden Hospital (records held at WYAS Wakefield catalogue reference: C332) was originally a fever hospital controlled by the Joint Board representing Todmorden, Hepton RDC, Hebden Royd and Sowerby UDC. In 1948 it came under control of Halifax hospital management committee and had 56 beds.

It briefly closed before reopening as a children's hospital. It then became a hospital for mentally handicapped patients linking with the nearby hospital at Stansfield view.

Only two registers survive for fever patients 1837-1949 and child patients 1953-1966. No administrative, financial or staff records survive.

Access to some records may be restricted.
