Dewsbury Trinity Congregational Church
Originally called Dewsbury Trinity Hall Congregational Church
A congregation was established in 1864 from Dewsbury Ebenezer, using the former Dewsbury Public Hall which had been bought by Mark Oldroyd & Sons, woollen manufacturers and fitted up by them for use as a chapel
A new chapel was built at the crossroads of Halifax Road and Wellington Road in 1868-1870 and opened in 1870. From then on it was known as Trinity rather than Trinity Hall.
Between 1907-1908 the congregation amalgamated with Dewsbury Ebenezer to form Dewsbury United Congregational Church. They continued to use both buildings for a time but had the same minister.
Trinity chapel building ceased to be used by the congregation 1921-1922 and the building subsequently became the Rex Cinema in 1933 and then the Rex Social Club by the 1980s.
In 1985 the building was demolished to make way for the new ring road.
Records relating to this church can be found WYAS: Kirklees under the reference number KC911/3.
