Denby Dale District County Primary School
The following source list was originally available only on paper in one of the West Yorkshire Archive Service offices. It may have been compiled many years ago and could be out of date. It was designed to act as a signpost to records of interest on a particular historical subject, but may relate only to one West Yorkshire district, or be an incomplete list of sources available.
The school opened as Undenominational School, Wakefield Road, Denby Dale in 1874. The infants moved to Victoria Hall in 1905 and returned in c1941, [at the same time, the senior pupils went to Skelmanthorpe Secondary School]. It became Denby Dale District County Primary School c1941 and became a nursery school between 1976 - 1978. It was last known as Denby Dale Nursery School. The earliest recorded log book for this school is dated July 1874, extracts and comments from the log book can be found at WYAS Wakefield, collection reference: WRD5
