Brockholes Wesleyan Methodist Church

A Preaching centre in the Huddersfield Wesleyan Circuit existed at Smithy Place 1819- it is uncertain how long this kept going.

Using a house in Rock Terrace, services were established in 1894 until a wooden mission chapel was built in Oakes Lane in 1895.

A new chapel in Brockholes Lane was built in 1903-1906 and opened in 1906. The old chapel was demolished by 1918.

The church is still in existence in 2009.

Records relating to this church can be found at the West Yorkshire Archive Service: Kirklees under the reference numbers KC527 and WYK1295.

NB A Methodist Sunday School marked on the 1854 6" Ordnance Survey map at Ridings- said to be Primitive rather than Wesleyan.
